The Boeing 747-8F aircraft of Silkway West Airlines became the first F-category large cargo airliner that landed at the recently opened New Istanbul Airport

The Boeing 747-8F aircraft of Azerbaijani cargo airlines Silk Way West Airlines became the first F-category large cargo airliner that landed at the recently opened New Istanbul Airport. The aircraft of the scheduled Baku-Istanbul-Baku flight had been handled on the ground by 'Çelebi' - the long standing handling partner of Silk Way West Airlines in Turkey. 'Çelebi' has been providing aviation services for Silk Way West Airlines at the highest level for many years.

Since its foundation in 2012, Silk Way West Airlines has been constantly expanding its route network which meanwhile does reach to more than 40 destinations connected with its own global hub in Baku.

With a fleet of more than 10 Boeing 747 Fullfreighters, of which are 5 state-of-the-art Boeing 747-8F, the airline does cover the major global air cargo tradelines with major sub hub operations in Hong Kong, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Tianjin, Singapore, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Chicago, Istanbul, and others.

New Istanbul airport is located Arnavutkoy district on the European part of Istanbul, 35 kilometers from the city center. As of April the 7th all passenger flights were transferred from the meanwhile closed Ataturk Airport to the new airport.
