Silk Way West Airlines further expands and adds aircraft

Silk Way West Airlines stays on its expansion course by adding regular flights between Liège Airport and its global cargo hub in Baku. As of the end of April 2018, the twice weekly flights into Liege connecting the Baku Hub had been started.

“The aim is to further knit our European network by adding more destinations and maintaining a denser schedule in order to offer our customers the highest flexibility”, says Wolfgang Meier, President and CEO at Silk Way West Airlines.

Along with the recent re-launch of operations at Budapest Airport and the launch of scheduled services at Liège, Silk Way West Airlines is not only expanding the number of destinations, but also its fleet. In order to maintain the steadily growing network, Silk Way West Airlines will add two Boeing 747-400F to its existing fleet of more than ten aircraft. The first of the two freighters has joined Silk Way West Airlines last week, the second one will join the fleet in June.

“The two long expected additional aircraft will further support the growth of the network by enhancing the options to make existing Silk Way West Airlines routes denser and add as well new destinations to its global network of more than 45 destinations,“ adds Wolfgang Meier.

Silk Way West Airlines‘ fleet consists of more than ten Boeing 747 full freighters with at least two more aircraft to join the fleet in due course. The carrier operates a global network of more than 45 destinations along the ancient Silk Road with an enhanced network through Baku connecting China, Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa and North America.
